Promotional Pens: Cliché or Compelling Marketing Tool?
Pens are some of the most popular promotional items used by businesses to help achieve their goals. Practically all industries have utilised pens as a marketing tool. It has been used so often that one must wonder if this is still a persuasive device in the promoting business. If everybody is using it in every single campaign, is it still a creative and innovative idea?

First of all, promotional pens are useful. People use them all the time, at work or at home. This is an advantage because a pen lends itself to repeated use. If it is used repeatedly then there is considerable reinforcement of recall. This brings us to another benefit derived from promotional pens.

After all, aren’t pens always prominently displayed – in the workplace, store premises or placed in a shirt pocket for everybody to see? Another advantage is that you can choose from many different styles. If your target markets for instance are students, you can distribute these multi-colored types made out of plastic. If your clients are the sophisticated type, you can opt for an executive style. You can even choose styles that follow a certain theme. For example, a tailor may want to give away pens in the shape of closed scissors.
Finally, these products are relatively inexpensive. A lot of suppliers offer deals for items that are purchased in bulk. Even the least expensive type can be made to appear attractive. If your company has a tight budget, pens can go a long way in helping you out with your campaign. But what if budget isn’t really a problem? A promotional pen is still a good idea as there is a wide range of styles available in the market – from classic designs to chic and modern styles.
As you can see, it still makes sense to these useful giveaways as part of your marketing plans. Because of its continued usefulness and effectiveness as a promotional tool, it really can be considered a classic.
